FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Hannah Stewart

Fashionista Spotlight

As I near the end of my university career (yikes), I find more appreciation for the concept of balance with each passing day. The desire to achieve success in every work endeavour and the desire to indulge in the freedom and social opportunities the university setting has to offer are both tempting; it's a delicate dance to find a satisfying equilibrium. This dance extends to every area of life, including fashion. With her fiery, multicoloured locks and bold accessories contrasting against her tweed trench and classic silhouette, this Fashionista is a walking yin and yang. Bonus: she demonstrates perfectly how to stylishly transition from fall to winter staples. A mecca of quirkiness, she proves that the best accessory for class is a little sass.

Name: Hannah Stewart

Major: Theatre & Music

Year: Junior

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing?

Hannah Stewart: My coat is from Smart Set. The dress is Cooperative and the boots are Steve Madden. My ring is from a vintage market in Europe; I got it during my trip to Venice this past summer. Oh, and glasses are Hakim Optical.

CF: What makes your style unique?

HS: I like to go for a classic chic look. I enjoy looking kind of 1950s-esque with a little bit of sass, a little bit of flare and a little bit of badonkadonk.

CF: Your house is burning down and you only have time to save one item from your closet. What do you save?

HS: I would absolutey have to say that it would be my knee-high boots, these absolutely fantastic brown knee-high boots—Steve Madden. I would also have to bring some garish jewelry. I love big rings. And I'm a big fan of skinny jeans. That was more than one…oh well!

CF: What are your top three style staples?

HS: Have to have big rings, have to. I usually have some sort of big, poofy hair; volume is key. And a flattering waistline!

CF: You wear glasses and you wear them beautifully. What are your tips on how to wear glasses fashionably?

HS: Oh my god, rhinestones. You need to find yourself a sexy pair of glasses, sexy chic—that can be work for business or pleasure.

How To: To replicate this Fashionista's look, start simple and flare out. Take neutral colours and flattering silhouettes and tie them together with vibrant accessories. For those who wear specs, think more bedazzled than boring and play with coloured frames. A pair of knee-high leather boots is a must. Dress them up with a mini dress or down with jeans or leggings. Take it easy, let your personality shine through and find your style equilibrium.
