My recent appreciation for Rome came to me earlier this week when I started noticing tweets and messages from my friends back at home complaining about the current weather there. I have to say, I don’t really miss the snow or the freezing temperatures at all. In a sea of North Face coats back in Iowa, it is nice to have a little bit more of a variety of outerwear here in Rome. While walking to class everyday, I am surprised by the wide variety of coats I pass on the street. I have learned from Roman Fashionistas that even if it is cold outside, this is not an excuse to hide your style, instead your outerwear should be the main attraction.
I found this Fashionista on her way to view Rome from atop the Gianicolo Hill by our apartments. Her trench coat was the perfect light jacket for the cloudy, yet not too chilly day in Rome. The coat really made the whole outfit. Trench coats are all over here in Italy and I now see why. Trench coats are a sophisticated looking jacket, but can be worn with casual and dressy outfits alike.
This Fashionista paired her army green trench coat with a basic pair of jeans, classic brown boots, a cute slouchy hat and a cheetah print clutch. Trenches never go out of style, and are the ideal piece for a college student transitioning out of her “North Face Phase” and into the real world outside of a college campus. I advise all of you college students to seek the perfect trench coat for yourself, and don’t be afraid to spend money to invest in such a classic piece. Although I love my North Face as much as the next person, once I graduate, I won’t be caught dead showing up to work in it. Get a nice trench coat sooner rather than later to get the most bang for your buck.
