FASHION FROM ABROAD: Skulls Meet the Girl Next Door

Fashion From Abroad

Skulls seem to be a big trend here in Rome among the young Italian girls. Everything from their shirts to their trendy Alexander McQueen inspired clutches have skulls on them. Yet regardless of this near obsession, they never over-do it. One skull per outfit is plenty.

I have always thought of myself as more of a “girly girl,” but since seeing the skull trend, I have been tempted to try it out. Skulls can make any outfit edgier and fun, but I personally find it difficult to incorporate edgy pieces into my everyday outfits. On the weekends, I don’t mind trying a new look or fashion statement, but to class I sometimes have a hard time venturing out of my comfort zone. For all those other girly girls out there like me, I want you to know that you too can rock the skull look. This Fashionista showed me that you can be girly and cute while still experimenting with skull. The Fashionista wears a graphic skull tank underneath a jean button-down and over tight, black pants and riding boots. Her generally classic look tones down the intensity of the daring skull tank.

This Fashionista’s outfit is so simple, but by adding the edgy skull tank it brought her “going to class” outfit to the next level. The look is perfect. Everyone loves a classic jean button-down and riding boots, but the skull tank is what made her stand out from the crowd. Never be afraid to try something new. Classic is always safe, but edgy is memorable.
