STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: The Trend Forecast

Style Advice of the Week

This past week I had the opportunity to attend New York Fashion Week. My attempt to convince myself I fit and act cool and collective was slim to none during the shows. My favorite thing to do is people watch and see what trends will be forecasting in the future, which I was able to do during Fashion Week. A few trends that seem to be the buzz for the fall 2013 season include gray, fur and different variations of black and white.

This is one of the first times I was able to for see how many seasons ahead of American fashion Europe is. All of the trends that seem to big for the fall 2013 season are what I was surrounded with last semester in Barcelona. To no surprise, this Fashionista studied abroad in Milan, one of the fashion capitals of the world. I believe that she is a prime example of someone who obeys by her own standards and is on point with what everyone else will be wearing a year from now. Her gray fur vest and vintage black and white sweater really help her stand out in a crowd of Patagonias. Many of this Fashionista’s items were purchased abroad, which makes my adjustment back from abroad that much harder.

We need to take note of the black and white trend, as I believe it will be surfacing over the next year. This Fashionista’s vintage black and white sweater was purchased at a Milan vintage store. Hervé Léger by Max Azria and Alexander Wang are huge fans of this color combo. We may not have to buy a plane ticket to Milan to get our black and white fix after all.
