FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Andrea Amulic

Fashionista Spotlight

This spring, I have been obsessed with a hot pink and navy color combination, so when I saw this Fashionista I knew I had to take a picture. This Fashionista dresses up her slouchy striped shirt and soft maxi skirt with a crisp navy blazer, which makes her outfit appropriate for both class and a night out. Maxi skirts are great because they are more sophisticated and flowy that a restricting body-con skirt. Hot pink adds the perfect pop of color that announces that warm weather has finally arrived.

CollegeFashionista: What do you love most about fashion?

Andrea Amulic: I love how fashion can both reflect and shape societal changes, like how the flappers of the 1920s developed a new style to express their femininity and independence.

CF: Do you have a particular color palette that you stick to?

AA: I tend to wear a lot of neutrals mostly black, brown and navy but I like to mix in bright pieces for a pop of color too.

CF: Who are some of your style icons?

AA: I think Alexa Chung and Olivia Palermo have great style. I also love Mary-Kate Olsen.

CF: What's something on your wishlist?

AA: I am in the market for some bright summer dresses.

CF: Has being abroad influenced your style?

AA: Absolutely! I studied abroad in Milan, which is one of the style capitals of the world, so it definitely influenced the way I think about fashion. The most important thing I learned was to buy high-quality basic pieces, because people in Milan value clothes and accessories that are well-made and timeless, and they take the “Made in Italy” label very seriously.

How To: It’s time to get to the store and buy yourself a maxi skirt! When searching for the perfect maxi skirt, ZARA is the place to go. I love this one because it is sheer, as well as this pleated skirt. This chiffon skirt from Urban Outfitters is a great option as well. It comes in a bright citrus color and lots of neutrals. Loose shirts look great tucked into maxi skirts, such as the artisan tee from Madewell.
