WHAT TO WEAR: Library

What to Wear

Ah, the library. A place on campus you’re anticipating with dread to visit as winter quarter finals are rapidly approaching. (Can you believe it’s week nine? I can’t!) The library poses an interesting question: What does one wear to visit it? It’s easy to throw on the yoga pants as you grab another cup of coffee and, during finals week, you will definitely resort to those. But what about when you’re ahead of the game and studying now? There’s an outfit for that, which this Fashionista rocks.

The maxi skirt can seem like a daring trend, but it’s really easy for anyone to pull it off. I love this Fashionista’s sheer skirt, with a short slip underneath. Forever 21 has a wealth of maxis, in cool prints like ombré or abstract geometric. The store is also great because it’s relatively inexpensive. So if you’re not sure the maxi skirt is a new closet staple, Forever 21 is the way to try the trend out. Not to mention, there’s a store here in Davis! If you already love the maxi, Zara and MANGO have some with interesting details like beading and drawstrings. It’s a hit with big name designers too, including Lanvin and Diesel.

When your skirt is long and your shoes barely show, ankle booties are the way to go. The maxi is the standout piece of this outfit. Let it shine by keeping the rest minimal and going with trusty boots on your feet. Madewell has just revealed their new Billie boot, with suede from heel to toe. It’s super sophisticated. Buckle details on the back make this pair from ModCloth unique. This lace-up pair from Shoe The Bear is a great everyday shoe. For a day dedicated to academia (and when you’re in the library, it usually is) these soft structure suede booties from Anniel are perfect for long hours of wear. Happy studying!

One Simple Change: Swap the skirt for jeans or leggings during finals week—much easier to zip around campus on your bike!
