The sheer maxi or midi skirt has been a huge hit on the fall and winter 2011-12 runway. We all have seen the tremendous amount of positive responses this trend has gotten. In just a couple of seasons, this skirt has become a closet staple for every Fashionista. However, without the progression and evolution of trends, we would not have fashion. What better place to catch this transformation than a college campus and the town that it is in? It is basically a petri dish of trends! Today’s Fashionista brings us a new twist on the see-through skirt by adding a bit of interest with peekaboo leggings.
This eclectic redhead pioneers the transformation of the translucent maxi skirt by saying goodbye to the slip or boy short that have dictated the undergarments for this look. Instead, she chose to wear her sheer white maxi skirt with flower patterned leggings that can be seen through her skirt and as it sweeps with her walk. She completes this shabby chic look with combat boots, socks (worn over the leggings), orange sweater and artsy earrings. Adding interest to your see-through maxi or midi with patterned tights or leggings that peek through the airy layers, is a trend that is sure to pop up in seasons to come!

Yohji Yamamoto, Rodarte and Prabal Gurung all use patterened tights to add interest underneath the sheer layers of fabric. An interesting spin-off is shown by Louis Vuitton and Givenchy, where thigh high stockings peep through the transparent midi skirts. Finally, if you want to stick with slips and shorts, add interest with color as did Valentin Yudashkin, Zac Posen and Dolce & Gabbana.
