Three words that are notorious for pulling any outfit together — just belt it. It’s true! We’ve all heard it, and we’ve definitely all done it. A belt is more often than not a key necessity in creating balance within an ensemble. Not to mention belts can instantly create an hourglass shape out of even the frumpiest of clothes — what’s not to love?! Well, nothing. My highly extensive belt collection is proof of that!
I stumbled upon this week’s Fashionista while walking on campus as I instantly noticed her cobalt dress! I mean seriously, this blonde bombshell was a beauty in blue. As I approached her, I was instantly struck by her bow belt — love! Not to mention that it was studded too, which is one of my favorite trends right now! This babe expertly executed this look by pairing her statement belt with a solid blue dress, solid black leggings and leather boots. The dark contrast and simplicity of the rest of the outfit really draws attention to her belt, right where it should be! Bravo!
I really think belts are one of the easiest and most versatile accessories to pull off. I wear a belt practically every time I wear a dress! I just love how belts are capable of creating so much emphasis on my waist — it’s so flattering, I’m obsessed! Besides the fact that belts can create a slimming effect when worn in the right spot, they also are a big part of creating that “finished” look within an outfit. I find that when I put on a dress that needs a belt I just look in the mirror and think, “this has potential, but there’s something missin.g. And time after time I come to the same conclusion, a belt!
Belts are perfect to add cohesion to an outfit through the use of colors or textures, and also for adding a pop of color! I’ve got a neon pink belt that I just love pairing with neutrals, that way it catches the eye even more! Belts are also great because you can also get them literally anywhere. Seriously, practically every store sells belts and there is a wide price range — from Target to Neiman Marcus. No matter where you choose to shop, I doubt you’ll have very much difficultly getting your hands on a belt. This accessory is so simple, yet can be so vital when creating the perfect outfit. Don’t forget that! Personally, I think that accessories really complete an outfit, especially belts.
