FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Lauren Goetzinger

Fashionista Spotlight

Oh say can I see a patriotic Fashionista in our midst.

No, it is not the Fourth of July although many Fashionistas were sporting sandals and shorts a couple of days ago. The fall cold weather is finally present at the University of South Carolina's campus. And I do not believe that it is going to leave us anytime soon. Walking to class is not quite an enjoyment anymore as the chill bites our noses. Students definitely were not prepared for this drastic change of weather that has occurred. Almost two days ago it did feel like the Fourth of July with the sunshine and warm temperatures. Currently it feels like an oversized sweater and boots won't even suffice for this harsh change. I have been spotting the Fashionistas sporting the popular fall colors of burgundy and pumpkin. Riding boots and wool scarves are worn by almost all the students at USC lately. But, what really caught my eye was this adorable American flag sweater this Fashionista was wearing. While she was walking along the sidewalk towards the Strom Thurmond Fitness Center she looked comfortable while showing her loyalty to the USA.

Name: Lauren Goetzinger

Year: Sophomore

Major: Sport and Entertainment Management

CollegeFashionista: How can fashionistas show their pride for the USA through their wardrobe?

Lauren Goetzinger: We live in a country where we're so lucky to wear whatever we want. Fashionistas can show pride for America by simply expressing themselves through fashion. It's also awesome to take days such as the 4th of July and 9/11 to really show the pride of our country through red, white and blue clothes!

CF: What are you going to miss most about your summer wardrobe?

LG: The two items I lived by this summer that I'll miss the most are my maxi skirts and Jack Rogers!

CF: What are you looking forward to wearing the most in your winter wardrobe?

LG: My favorite winter item I'm excited to bring out is my BB Dakota fur vest!

CF: Who is your style icon and how do you use her fashions for your own inspirations?

LG: My style icon would have to be Jackie Kennedy. She made jeans chic and I also love business attire. She paved the way to make business attire trendy yet conservative. Thanks to her, we have stores like Ann Taylor and J.Crew that make dressing for work fun!

How-To: The classic American look always consists of denim blue jeans. Switch this classic look up a little bit with a high waisted pair embellished with sailor buttons. Nothing says “Hello America” like this sweater Lauren is wearing. Her sweater is perfect for the fall time being oversized and cozy. If you are like Lauren and love keeping comfortable and cute wear an oversized sweater with an American scarf. Add to this patriotic look some gold bangles. Lauren completes her look with tall suede taupe boots. If you want to add some edge wear wedge sneakers or a leather jacket over your sweater. Following these tips you will definately have this Americana look established.

For this week Fashionistas, show your support for our country.
