FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Hillary Jett

Fashionista Spotlight

This Fashionista is acing her style final.

The worst week of the school year has finally approached us. As we are thinking about what to put on our Christmas lists and snowy days at home there is one major obstacle we must overcome. The week consisting of cramming all of the material we have learned from the past couple months in one night is here. This is a time where Fashionistas want to resort to the Victoria Secret yoga pants and gamecock hoodies. Since finals week is the last week of school, I think it should be adorned with fantastic fashions and sparkly flats. This is your last week to really make a statement on USC's campus and impress your peers before you adjourn to your hometowns. I spotted Hillary Jett who really had the Fashionista spirit needed during this rough week. Spotting her by the Coliseum she dazzled in her stellar outfit.

Name: Hillary Jett

Year: Junior

Major: Retailing

CollegeFashionista: Being a previous Style Guru, how does it feel being on the other side of the spotlight?

Hillary Jett: Ever since I became a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista last year, I've been waiting for my chance to be on the other side of the camera. I was very excited that I was asked to be featured this week!

CF: How has being a previous Style Guru influenced your style?

HJ: My experience with CollegeFashionista made me more aware of my daily appearance. Having to be prepared to encounter a stranger and ask to take his picture for a fashion blog made me realize how much of others' perceptions of myself are based on how I am dressed. You can't go up to someone fashionable, while you yourself are in sweats with no makeup on, and ask to feature them on a fashion blog! It made me try harder to look stylish everyday.

CF: What is your advice for students that are stressed and busy during finals week?

HJ: For students who are stressed and busy during finals but still want to look fashionable, I suggest throwing on black disco pants or leggings, a simple sweater, a cute knit scarf and a pair of flats or booties. Putting your hair into a high bun might also compliment this look. This is an easy look, takes seconds to put together, and you won't look like you're trying too hard to look fashionable during finals week, when most concerns are not about how students look.

CF: What is your favorite outfit for when you have a final presentation?

HJ: My favorite outfit to wear when I give a final project presentation is black tights with a cute dress and my favorite Dolce Vita camel booties!

How-To: I adore Hillary's cream knit button-down skirt. This Fashionista told me she bought it from one of my favorite websites, ASOS. She sports this skirt with a heart dotted sheer blouse. Dotted clothing items are a big hit on USC's campus and one of the top trends for the season. Cardigans are perfect for cool fall days. Gray is a great neutral color which will match with anything. Her black beaded gold tassel necklace adds a little shine to her ensemble. Finishing off this pristine look with black tights and her favorite Dolce Vita camel booties. This Fashionista definitely deserves to be on the other end of the spotlight!
