FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Amy Lummen

Fashionista Spotlight

Class is in session for these preppy fall trends.

Southerners are always known for their brand loyalty to lines such as Ralph Lauren, Lilly Pulitizer and Vineyard Vines. Transitioning into the fall, Fashionista's have to dial down the popular bright patterns a bit and emphasize the fall season colors. But don't fret, if preppy is your look you can still incorporate it into the fall fashions. While scouting for Fashionistas I always try to select the most unique styles on campus. As I encountered this Fashionista I noted her confidence while wearing this classy ensemble. Although she was not wearing enormous statement necklaces or bright colored pants, her look was classic and tasteful. I spotted this Fashionista by one of the coveted spots on campus: the horseshoe. Amy told me that she had a Public Relations test and was tired from the long night of studying. This just shows that students with rigorous schedules can still be fashionable.

Name: Amy Lummen

Year: Senior

Major: Fashion Merchandising

Minor: Advertising and Public Relations

CollegeFashionista: What do you think will be the most popular new trends on campus for the fall?

Amy Lummen: I think that we will be seeing lots of dark colors, oversized sweaters and high collars this fall.  I also think we will be seeing lots of leather, including leather shoes, pants, skirts and jackets.

CF: What clothing item can you not live without during the fall?

AL: That's easy, I could not live without my brown leather boots. They are warm and comfortable. I can dress them up and wear them out or Ican wear them when I am going to class or running errands. When I am running late I throw on my leather boots and pair them with an oversized sweater, for a look that is fast, comfortable, and
fashionable for the fall.

CF: What are your style inspirations?

AL: I have so many style inspirations, I look for beauty in everything.  It is so important for me to maintain my artistic and creative side, or I would go crazy. I am constantly drawing, doodling, and flipping through magazines for inspiration. My style icon is Erin Wasson, and my favorite fashion blogs are Fashion Toast and Bryan Boy.

CF: What are you most excited about wearing this fall?

AL: I am most excited to wear my new long-sleeved Peplum dress from Arden B!

How-To: This fashionista has a preppy chic feel that anyone can pull off it they follow these couple steps. This Fashionista's sports tan leather riding boots which are a great investment for the fall and winter seasons. Camel colored accessories or shoes are a great go-to item as they compliment any color. Dark indigo colored skinny jeans flatter Fashionistas and Fashionistos and can be worn casually or dressy. This Fashionista pairs her jeans with a light blue buttoned down oxford. Roll up the sleeves like this Fashionista or tuck your blouse into your jeans for a cleaner look. Add a bright colored skinny belt with your tucked in blouse. Accent with any type of patterned scarf like this Fashionista's turquoise one. On warmer days if you want to forgo the scarf wear a collared stone necklace. When Jack Frost is impacting your wardrobe add a blazer or fur vest. Finishing off with a satchel for carrying your textbooks to and from class.

For this week bring out the inner prep in you!
