College is all about grabbing life by the horns. It’s the only time in our lives when we can (or at least feel that we can) get away with just about anything, and it’s during this critical period that some of the most daring fashion trends are born. Take, for example, this Fashionista. Though her eclectic outfit (complete with combat boots and tribal swim trunks) initially caught my eye, it was her unexpected nose piercing that, if you’ll forgive the pun, really stuck with me.
While piercings themselves aren’t exactly a fresh idea, this Fashionista’s decision to leave her ears unadorned and opt instead for a simple silver fixture which hangs daintily from her septum turns an age-old, somewhat passé form of self ornamentation on its head – or rather, its nose. Making the choice to dangle metal from your face is a bold one, as my subject was well aware. She mentioned wistfully how often her unique look results in encounters such as the one we had, testament to the fact that if you want to pursue this trend, you should expect to get noticed for it!

Since the world of nasal jewelry is so extensive, anything from the austere to something as ornate as a small metal nose ring is available to suit your fancy. And, if that fancy happens to call for a fake mustache? Why yes, they have those too.
