STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Murse Or Man Bag?

Style Advice of the Week

I’ve had a difficult time finding an all-purpose day bag for my books, wallet, camera and anything else I could possibly fit in an oversized bag. There is no shortage of fashionable options, but I can’t seem to commit to one that I absolutely love and know will last for more than a few months with heavy wear.

There are more options for women than men, which is what drew my eye to the awesome bag on today’s Fashionisto. Truthfully, the bag was a gift from his girlfriend, but he pulls it off so well, you’d never know he didn’t pick it out. The bag is from the BillyKirk leather line, launched in LA in 1999 by two brothers who still do much of the production, design and financials for their business.

I instantly went online to see what kind of options BillyKirk had to offer. Their pieces are classic, well made and wearable for all types of guys. This style in particular is perfect for Tyler’s records and a few other items. The bags are a little pricy, at least in comparison his previous thrift store bag, but are durable enough that they are worth the investment. I found a video online that talks a little about the Billy Kirk story and how their bags are hand made by an Amish team.

Don’t get me wrong, a backpack will do the trick and carry the books, but a guy instantly looks like he has some style if he can carry a cool bag. So, take a lesson from this Fashionisto and invest in a timeless and durable piece that won’t make you look like you borrowed your little brother’s comic book tote. Here's another website, Filson, with more durable, lasting bags.
