FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Paige Beaubien

Fashionista Spotlight

In a sea of white snowflakes, I was incredibly lucky to spot this Fashionista in her dark cerulean blue jacket. In the midst of our first real snowfall, this Fashionista looked as if she was dressed for a special occasion. The coat style is reminiscent of the early 1960s with its A-line silhouette while, the color reminded me of the stewardess’ outfits on the current TV series Pan Am. The tucked bow along the neckline adds interest as well. By pairing this coat with black tights, a black hat and black pumps, this Fashionista shows off a very classic and polished style.

Name: Paige Beaubien

Major: Art History

Year: Senior

College Fashionista: Where did you purchase your coat?

Paige Beaubien: I purchased my coat from ModCloth.com

CF: What is your favorite era for design?

PB: My favorite era for design would have to be the '50s/60s. There was something so classy, feminine and put-together about the way that all of the women looked.

CF: What is your favorite piece of clothing or accessory to wear during the winter?

PB: My favorite piece of clothing for the winter is a cardigan. You can dress it up and down with any accessory.

CF: Who would you consider your style icon to be?

PB:  My style icon would have to be Audrey Hepburn. She had the best wardrobe and was never afraid to try something new. Plus, Givenchy was her personal friend and go-to designer for everything, and who wouldn't love that?!

How To:  In order to achieve this look, find a solid colored coat in a similar silhouette. Another coat like this can be found at Mod Cloth. The fold over collar slightly resembles the Fashionista’s tucked in collar while also remaining very minimalistic. Wear a wide brimmed hat or if you wish to complete 1960s feeling and are feeling edgy wear this Catarzi Pillbox Ribbon Hat from ASOS.  Finish the outfit off with solid colored tights and matching shoes that complement the coat color; this will retain a polished look.
