Hey everyone! I’m Jordan, a third year Graphic Communication major at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. I am thrilled to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this spring!
Ever since I can remember, I have had a passion for sewing and fashion. At the age of five, I stole my mom’s Singer sewing machine and made custom clothes for my Barbie dolls. At ten I wrote an essay proclaiming that I would one day become a fashion designer. At 14 I sketched dress designs on the blank pages of my school planner. At 17 I gave hand sewn bags to my best friends for their birthdays. Now at the age of 20, I have inherited my mom’s old sewing machine and make clothes for myself. Needless to say, fashion has always been a major part of my life.
This past summer, I studied abroad and attended the Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy. I took classes in fashion design, expanding my knowledge on the fashion industry as well as improving my sewing skills. In the city of Florence I was surrounded with fashion 24/7. I visited the museums of many fashion icons, took a trip to Milan, and spent countless hours in the studio studying designers, trends, and sewing techniques. Now that I am back in America, I hope that my experiences with Italian fashion help me thrive as a Style Guru.
When I’m not obsessing over the latest trends, I like to hang out with my roommates, read books, take pictures, and paint. You could say I live a fairly simple life, but I strive to soak up every minute of every day. Look for more posts from me this spring!
