Barbour coats are not an uncommon sight in the Northeast. These durable British sport coats have grown increasingly popular in the olive and blue styles. But, when I spotted this Fashionista sporting the bright blue color, I had to get a closer look.

CollegeFashionista: Your jacket color and style is so unique! Where did you get it?
Natalie Disston: While I really love the classic green Barbour, I wanted something different for myself. Initially, I thought I wanted a black one, but I was browsing online and came across this blue one on a website for a store in England. I loved that the color was bright, but still subtle. I had to order it from a store in England because the color was not available in the U.S.
CF: What other brands are you wearing?
ND: My pants are from Urban Outfitters and my boots are Dolce Vita.
CF: How would you define your personal style and where do you draw inspiration from?
ND: I would say that I lean towards more of an edgy look in the winter. I love chunky knit scarves and boots, especially since I didn’t get to wear that kind of clothes growing up in the Bahamas! In the spring and summer I dress more feminine with elements of boho. I draw inspiration from my friends and just the people I see around me.
CF: If you could have an unlimited amount of money to spend on one fashion item, what would it be and why?
ND: A gown by Armani, Dior, Azzedine Alaia or Oscar de la Renta. They all make such beautiful dresses, and I would be happy just to look at it everyday in my closet!
How To: Pair neutral boots with colored skinny jeans. Then, opt for an electric blue coat like this Fashionista’s or a punchy pink parka for spring.
