The third week of the new spring term has arrived! How’s the semester going so far–good or are you overwhelmed with a busy schedule? People, like me, who have already encountered their first exam, started projects and dealt with homework, can make the library a second home. Think about how much time you spend in the library every week. You could be studying two hours a day or staying until midnight. I need gear to help me keep working, as well as, stay cozy. However, for Fashionistas and Fashionistos, figuring out what to wear in the library can be a nuisance. Although you are hard at work in the library, your ensemble can be in vogue.
This Fashionisto created a perfect example of a stylish ensemble for the library. He layered up with a shirt, cardigan and coat. His coat works for both indoors and outdoors. This sophisticated ensemble consisted of mix-and-match patterns: small checks with big solid checks. A rule of thumb, for business-wear, is that one of the three basic elements–suit, shirt or tie–should be solid or plain when patterns are involved. This Fashionisto followed this rule of thumb, picking a dark red wine-colored shawl-collar cardigan to complement the check pattern. In order to vary his look, he contrasted the small white checks with big black and dark green checks. He chose to color block his cardigan and coat; the green and red color blocking embraces the winter atmosphere. This Fashionisto also chose a light grey wool hat, a pair of grey fingerless gloves, a white shirt and a pair of white jeans, which all create a balance for his whole look.
A funky pair of studded loafers can brighten up any outfit. The luggage bag, with space for a laptop and some books, is a chic accessory for a trip to the library. Even when this Fashionisto takes off his coat in the library, the attractive color palette and his pair of studded loafers will make him spotlight-worthy.
You can recreate his look. Start by mixing patterns together: a halyard check shirt with a button-up cardigan. Say goodbye to those sweat pants and T-shirts and get ready to kick off a productive semester!
ONE SIMPLE CHANGE: His look is great for school, yet it can be more fashion-forward for weekends. Steal from men’s street-style trends, such as sporting a striped shawl. An accessory like this definitely will make heads turn!
