After a snowy start to the semester, students in Morgantown welcomed the effects of global warming with fewer layers and a less constricted wardrobe. This Fashionista struck my attention with her vibrant pink peacoat, which was a nice change of pace from the typical dreary winter colors. I loved that this Fashionista decided to go with a bold color even in the winter months. Many people feel that bright colors are out of the question come wintertime, which is actually not true! Bright colors can be worn all year round if put together in the proper fashion. The combination of the peacoat with a pair of black motorcycle boots along with argyle stockings gives this Fashionista a polished and urban style. Not to mention, this is also a great outfit to go from day to night. With a quick change from boots to a pair of classic patent pumps and replacing the scarf with a fun necklace, this Fashionista is ready to go out in style.
To steal this look, check out any of your local department stores; this is where this Fashionista found her perfect GUESS peacoat and Steve Madden motorcycle boots. For those of you on a college budget, as am I, check out stores such as Forever 21 and Target to find a fun colored peacoat. Another great place to look is online at websites such as ModCloth and Victoria’s Secret.
Here is a perfect example of a plum peacoat I found from Victoria’s Secret on sale.
To finish the rest of this look all you need is a simple black or neutral colored sweater dress or frock. American Apparel's piqué Dolman dress or their Baby Rib frock dress can be a perfect match. If you want to go for a more vintage look, go for an oversized sweater or knitwear. A pair of funky tights can be picked up almost anywhere and add your own personal punch of style to the look. Brands like Steve Madden and Hue make tights and stockings that are available at almost every department store and come in a wide variety of colors and styles.
So, for all of you who have limited your winter wardrobes to black and brown, its time to make a change!
