LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: Perfect Pairings

Let's Hear it for the Boys

Have you ever stepped up to your wardrobe at the beginning of the day and realized, after an inordinate amount of time spent pondering, that you simply could not decide what you wanted to wear? Choosing an outfit, especially when you are indecisive or when you have a very diverse sense of style, can at times be overwhelming.

This Fashionisto, however, presents a great way to incorporate a number of different styles into one look without becoming an eyesore. This goal is achieved first and foremost by staying away from an obnoxious color scheme. Too many bright colors in a look can really take an eclectic mix of pieces overboard by over-emphasizing their differences. This Fashionisto sticks with faded hues, which makes mixing and matching a lot easier to do.

In addition to considering color, he also plays around with both the dressy as well as the more casual. The top half of his look would work well for a number of dressy events ranging anywhere from a nice dinner to a class presentation. The bottom half gives the look a more casual feel, making the fashionable statement that this Fashionisto can get down to business but can also be chill and fun.

His accessories nicely reflect this same two-dimensional concept. On one wrist he sports an assortment of bracelets, which matches the more down-to-earth look of his jean-and-boot combo. On the other wrist he sports a nice watch, which works well with the dressier top half of his look.

Hint: A great technique for coming up with any look is to start out with a multidimensional look such as this one. Once you come up with a look like this, you can simply alter it to suit different purposes. If this Fashionisto wanted an all around dressy look, he could simple lose the jeans and shoes, and replace them with a pair of black dress pants and shoes to match. If he wanted to go more casual, he could get rid of the top half of the look and replace it with a simple T-shirt and tailored hoodie. If you want to add a hat, a black fedora would work perfectly with the dress pant look, while a black beanie would top off the casual ensemble.
