Here at Notre Dame, there are a couple of things that simply cannot be denied. One such thing that is particularly significant to students is that in the winter, it is cold. It’s bleak, windy and oftentimes even painful to get from point A to point B. This unfortunate fact undoubtedly leads to another, which is when the weather gets bleak, people give up on fashion. Many fight the good fight, but when temperatures reach the single digits and the wind is blowing fiercely, white flags wave all across campus as students throw on the same winter-wear everyday just to make it from place to place in one piece.
This Fashionisto has found a way to brave the cold and remain in style. He has taken a hint from an age-old saying and, instead of competing with the gloomy shades of winter, he has joined them in this sleek all-black ensemble. Though all black is hard to get wrong, sometimes having too much of the same thing can be overwhelming and/or boring rather than classy and intriguing. This concern is not a problem for this guy, as his leather hooded jacket presents a change in appearance and material and adds an element of depth to the look. Underneath the leather layer is a crisp black T-shirt with a cool and eccentric “x” design. The pop of white against the black backdrop of the entire outfit was a great way to add another dimension without detracting from the sleekness of the look. Though it was mild enough for this Fashionisto to bare arms outdoors for a few shots, the freezing temperature was fast approaching. With this ensemble, he was ready for them.
Hint: Don’t have tough enough skin to brave the cold in this look? Try adding a black long-sleeved thermal underneath, and a thick scarf to stop the wind from reaching your neck. Like the all-black but wish the look had a bit more diversity? Try adding a gray or earth-toned scarf or beanie. This one step will take your all-black everything from monotone to an interesting dual or tri-tone ensemble. Adding an even brighter accessory will take the look from sleek to cool and collected but still experimental and fun.
