In the sixth grade, I began cultivating my love for adventure, expressing it first through my personal style. I started experimenting with patterns, shapes and trends I saw in my Teen Vogue magazines. My interest in fashion continued to develop when I was able to travel to the UK, France, Greece and Canada with my family and friends. It was then that my style inspiration grew from the street fashions I would see during my foreign adventures.
When high school started, I became involved with costuming the plays and musicals. From Alice in Wonderland to Hairspray, I dressed characters who engaged in their own great adventures spanning different times and places. I immersed myself in the task of creating and finding clothes for the “Wonderland” time periods and places I could never reach myself. I found I could reach for adventure in a real place, however, and chose to journey from my small beach community in California to attend college in New York.
I am a sophomore at Marist College studying english theatre with a minor in fashion merchandising. When I’m not enjoying the Hudson River view from my school’s library, I costume for the Marist theatre department, eat carbs, obsess over my favorite store (Anthropologie), craft special-occasion cards, visit and explore New York City and just love life. This spring semester I embark on my next great adventure. I will be studying abroad in London and I am ecstatic to share my fashion adventure with you!
