London Fashion Weekend is a great addition to London Fashion Week because it allows members of the public to experience the type of thrill that coincides with viewing a fashion show live. I, along with many London Fashionistas, attended the event. Different from the rest of this season’s Fashion Weeks that presented trends for fall and winter 2013, London Fashion Weekend reinforced spring and summer 2013 fashion trends. One of the four mini collaborative collections I saw was named Eastern Promise. This collection showcased romantic brocades and floral prints, which was seen on runways all over during the spring/summer 2012 Fashion Weeks. It is a playful trend that embraces mixing bright colors, textures and prints.
This Fashionista also attended the event and appropriately sported the exact romantic floral trend shown at the runway show. Although the weather in London is still cold and wet, her look was a great reminder that spring is just around the corner. She wears a silky crewneck blouse with a print that looks like a watercolor painting. To contrast the softness of her top she pairs it with a sharper, fitted brocade pant. The combination of the two prints is bold, fun and reminds me of a lovely spring bouquet. To make this spring look suitable for colder weather, she adds a heavier black peacoat and a dark lip — her maroon lip color only heightens the romanticism of her look. To finish off her outfit she wears a basic black pump and carries a Mary Poppins-esque embroidered bag. Her outfit can easily be transformed for spring weather by wearing nude heels or flats and a light pink lip color.
This floral trend brings a creative and whimsical feeling to spring fashion. In a month or two the sun will be shining and the flowers will be blooming and I can’t wait to try my own take on the trend. How about you?
