STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Keeping You and Your Casual Cool

Style Advice of the Week

With your new schedule for this semester starting to become secondhand and upcoming exams, papers and presentations starting to sink in, the initial new semester wardrobe excitement starts to fade. You start to get comfortable and your academic juices are flowing more than your creative ones, leaving less time for you to put more thought into your attire. This doesn’t mean you have to resort to just simply rocking your school’s sweat gear, Victoria Secret yoga pants or your go-to pair of jeans.

To look like this Fashionisto, simply try updating your casuals. Your look may not be too flashy but picking out the best of the best clothing with great quality and material will be an advantage to you at this time of the semester. Even though you look more causal you will still mentally feel good in what you’re wearing, leaving you with a more positive attitude to focus on the heavy tasks ahead. Instead of grabbing your basic jean jacket, try updating it. Search for maybe a new wash or rinse; you want to find one that puts a whole new twist to your causal look and makes you stand out. For instance, Urban Outfitters’s Rag Union Urban Renewal ombre foiled denim jacket. It’s a simple jean jacket but the detailing on it takes a regular jean jacket to a whole other level.

Also, if you’re going to go casual, switch your favorite pair of jeans for some black ones. A pair of skinny black jeans is still casual but gives the look a great update. Try Gap’s super skinny fit black jeans. The material is great and you can wear them with anything, whether you want to dress them up or down. Either way, you will look stylish. Want to to try this exact look? This Fashionisto, sophomore Austen Davis, got his Levi’s jean jacket and Vans from a local thrift shop, Rumors and a tee from Old Navy.
