STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Denim For Days

Style Advice of the Week

Boston has been experiencing some manic weather lately. The days have been alternating between hot and cold, sunny and rainy. Trying to dress for this inconsistent weather has been somewhat exhausting for me. However, this past weekend I spotted a Fashionista who decided to embrace an unseasonably warm day and break out some warm weather style in the form of denim cut-offs. I love the simplicity of this look. The Fashionista looks really put together, but with minimal effort.

The neckline on her shirt is really fashion-forward. Having a high neckline like this allows for the Fashionista to wear a pair of denim cut-offs without seeming immodest or showing too much skin. Her sunglasses have an old-school rock and roll look, which I instantly fell in love with, and round out her look with a splash of personality.

Denim cut-offs are a great, and somewhat underrated, wardrobe essential. They can go with so many things and can even transfer between seasons if you layer them over a pair of black tights. I love the way the Fashionista styled her look for daytime, but denim cut-offs can easily be dressed up for a night out. Try pairing them with a classic white button-up, some colorful heels and a gold collar necklace for a modern and edgy feel.

If you don’t already own a pair I would highly recommend buying one. Denim cut-offs are so versatile and fun, a great change up from your basic jeans. I’m really loving these Current/Elliot ones. However if denim shorts aren’t in your budget right now you could always go the DIY route and chop up an old pair of jeans. A great tutorial for that can be found here.

Whatever route you chose, don’t be afraid to rock some denim cut-offs this week!
