Details matter, always. The smallest detail can really affect an outfit completely whether it’s braiding your hair, the color of your socks, or painting your nails. It’s the whole ensemble that creates the outfit.
This Fashionista decided to add fine detail with black nails to her already very black hue oriented outfit. You would think the black nail polish would show too much black in her look but it actually complements very well. The black nails do not give off not a gothic look but more of a professional and powerful look. It makes this Fashionista look professional and serious about her work.
The real concern about black nail polish is that, it should always be polished completely and must be very clean. We usually stereotype black nail polish as gothic and grungy. However, black nails can be very fashionable, cute and professional when done right. If your black nails start to chip, try to fix it as soon as possible or completely repaint it. The more chipped the black nails are, the more dirty it looks and it can dramatically transform a professional outfit look to dirty. Everyone knows that being groomed makes one look clean and fresh. Same goes nails. Nails need to be groomed often as well or else it won’t look clean, shiny and eye-catching.
My favorite black nail polish is Essie’s licorice. With a typical topcoat, the color really shows how rich and vivid it is on your nails. With her black blazer, pants, boots and nails help really bring out the royal blue blouse in her outfit. Your eyes immediately direct itself to the blouse since it is very blue and has such a strong, rich color. With any other color on her nails would not be complementary to her blouse and would be such a distraction to your eyes. With only two colors in her outfit, it really shows her individual pieces in detail. The saying less is more really goes into effect here.
