Nowadays, all you hear about is negativity towards the growing number of supersized items in our society, whether it is food or clothes. The way this oversized idea has hit the fashion world is through sweaters. The preface to this movement has another part to piece together the puzzle. The past few years, a new trend has come about with leggings being worn not only in the form of tights. They have been added to closets as another pair of pants. You can find them in cotton, spandex and faux leather fabrics or even made into styles that look like jeans, coining the term, “jeggings.” Leggings and oversized sweaters seem to go hand-in-hand this fall.
This fall, boots, scarves, leggings and oversized sweaters are everywhere around the University of Tennessee. These pieces can be seen in many different forms. Many girls wear big comfortable sweatshirts (usually representing UTK or a Greek affiliation) with leggings and boots, creating a casual and cute but not-just-rolled-out-of-bed look. It seems to go along with the oversized sweater fad. For CollegeFashionistas, this is a very easy way to put a fashion-forward outfit together while being comfortable as if you’re wearing shorts and a T-shirt.
The Fashionista that caught my eye has nailed the perfect fall look. The contrast of her coral sweater and ivory jeans really makes her chestnut boots and top stand out. The textured stripe design on her sweater is modern and unique because most are thick and plain. Her simple gemstone necklace compliments her outfit by adding a little shine without overbearing the stripes and color. Most people are hesitant about wearing the large sweaters because it hides their figure. J.Crew has a wide selection of tailored sweaters for the Fashionistas that are worried about looking boxy. Also, when sporting this fall look with an oversized sweater, make sure that the bottom half of the outfit is very tailored to your body. Contrast is very important when attempting this look so you don’t completely hide your shape.
