Denim has been around ever since I can remember. In our culture, denim represents hardworking people, reliability, an American tradition and something that gets better with age. Before it was a fashion statement like it is today, it was a part of the uniform for farmers, ranchers and many people who spent long, grueling hours doing chores outside. It encompasses many different styles and pieces. The most well known are blue jeans. There are hundreds of styles and colors for jeans. They can be acid washed, dark or light, skinny, flare, boot leg, colored or high-waist. The next piece someone might think of is a denim jacket, vest or shirt. These have been made more fashionable in the last few seasons.
I know denim is making a splash in people’s closet and not only in the form of jeans. It is refreshing to see a Fashionista around campus wearing one of the different styles of denim. Oversized shirts and leggings have been hitting the scene more and more lately as people are striving for a comfy and cute look that can be worn in many different forms. Simple accessories, such as her printed scarf and watch, keep this look classic. Her knee-high boots really compliment the scarf by bringing out the warm tones.
When searching for a denim shirt, Levi Brand Jeans is a good go-to brand for any type of denim. J.Crew has started a denim collection through their website that allows a shopper to browse any type of denim that you can imagine. When trying to own the denim on denim look, make sure that each piece is opposite in their contrasts. Black jeans and a denim shirt is an easy outfit to pull together. Also, brown leather shorts and wedge booties is a good look to branch out from the usual fall outfits. The amount of outfits you can create with denim is endless. The pieces are out there — you just have to be creative, Fashionistas!
