STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: The Bag Says It All

Style Advice of the Week

While it’s no secret that I love traveling, the commute from Los Angeles to Madison can get a little old. Long flights and bus rides have become quite tedious seeing as I’m halfway through my senior year, but this plane ride back to Madison I couldn’t really complain – Sex and the City: The Movie was playing for the duration of my flight. Nothing really passes the time better than watching the great styling of Patricia Field on Carrie Bradshaw as she wonders the streets of New York City. I found myself tearing up at the scene where she give her assistant her very first Louis Vuitton bag, which brings me to this week’s fabulous Fashionista.

With the best arm candy there is, this Fashionista sports a Speedy Louis Vuitton bag. There is something about the brown hues and signature monograms that make this bag timeless. Let’s be real here — this thing is pricey, but once you have one you will never let it sit in the back of your closet with the dust bunnies. When I’m no longer a struggling college student and have a steady income (and stop buying so many shoes…) you can mark my words that my first big purchase will be one of these bad boys. It's versatility makes it perfect for most outfits. Day or night, casual or fancy, it’s the perfect complement. This Fashionista executes it perfectly by partnering it with a pair of olive green pants. In the winter time, the combination of brown and olive green provide an earthy, warm feeling that is perfect for time in the library or hanging out with friends.

To top off her outfit she adds a pop of color with her pink shoes. With the simplicity of her outfit, the shoes add that last little pizazz that makes a great look complete. Although it’s wintertime, try a pair of bold boots or leopard sneakers. Just because it’s gloomy out doesn’t mean our outfits have to be gloomy!
