STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK Falling For Fall

Style Advice of the Week

As the summer months end and the fall begins, the one big thing on everybody’s mind is the start of a new school year. Not only does the temperature change around this time, but so do the trends, fashions and stylish looks. This week’s Fashionista shows us how to start the school year of right with the perfect first day of class outfit.

The preparation for a new school year always includes getting, planners, notebooks and books but it's just as important to have that first outfit just right. To avoid the inevitable, “I have nothing to wear” moment, there are a few simple rules involving color, patterns and textures to get the perfect look that will make everyone look at you.

While the summer is full of neons and bright colors, the fall brings a more muted palette, including mustards, burgundies and forest greens. This Fashionista pairs a simple purple lace top with medium washed jeans. It may be tempting to throw on your best dress or favorite pair of heels, but it's also important to remember that you will be in class for the majority of the day and you want something that's comfortable enough so you can actually learn.

The more muted color of the lace screams autumn is here, and even though we may try to ignore the fact that school is really for learning, and books are needed, one bright spot to back to school is that a great backpack can do more than just carry your books, it can look great too. Her vertically striped backpack has a variety of browns, dark reds, blues and about every other color associated with fall. The muted hue overtone of the backpack and the leather textures are durable and go right along with the fall trends. If your campus is big you may be walking great distances; so instead of the heels, try for something comfortable but also cute, like these simple gray oxfords.

Don’t let the back to school blues hold you down, just think of the positives: It’s fall and you need get to wear a whole new set of clothes!
