Picking out playful pieces can be difficult at times. Though we love the lace, ruffles and sequins you never want to overdue it in your outfit. Sometimes we tend to lose ourselves to too much ruffle or lace. One of the most important fashion rules is to “never let the clothes wear you, you wear the clothes.” By incorporating just a little bit of play into your outfit, it can take you a long way. Leading to another fashion rule — one that we should all live by when we’re putting together an outfit — is the concept of “more is less.” This never seems to fail because even though pieces may perfectly complement a top or skirt, that doesn’t mean it would complement everything else you have on. Just removing an extra piece of jewelry can do you justice. Being mindful of these essential fashion rules will have you looking as fabulous as you always are without overdoing it.
I came across this courageous Fashionista stepping out of the fashion norms, while still looking very put together. Her look was very military-like with a twist of a classic look. She had an adorable military vest from Urban Outfitters over a classic button-up shirt from Gap that was tucked into her black Talula’s Gina Skirt. Lately, there has been snow on the ground but the weather is fairly warm. Instead of getting ahead of herself she perfectly paired her outfit with fun, lacy tights for the warm weather and threw on her laidback combat boots for the snow.
The combat boots, military vest and lacy tights were gateway pieces to her grunge-chic outfit. I think her embellished necklace and her button-up shirt were the perfect additions to the classic side of her look. By only adding her lacy tights and just a fun piece of jewelry she didn’t overdo it one bit. This Fashionista was spot on and successfully rocked each piece of her outfit.
