Animal prints abound once again. For spring, Fashionistas wear around town not the plush feline fur but the cold yet fierce python. While snake skin has long been a go-to for panache in one’s ensemble, it takes on new heights when worn by Fashionistas in shades that span the whole spectrum of colors. Most animal prints are commonly found in articles of clothing but the accessories department is peppered with the slithery patterns as well. For this ACCESSORIES REPORT, I spotted communications sophomore Arielle Escalona whose feet were shod in multicolor reptile. This Fashionista makes a smart move as pairs the pizzazz of animal prints with low key basics, but she melds one trend with another as her shoes strapped in several hues take on the silhouette of the gladiator sandal.
Gladiators quickly endow even the barest of ensembles with a fuller, dressier look. However, adding prints that are chic and up to the minute like this python print extends any trend without crossing the line between "excess-orized" and over the top.
Spotted: Michael Kors and Elie Tahari clad their models’ feet in gladiator sandals for their spring 2012 runway, while the catwalk of Chloé was teeming with python print. Bottega Veneta's spring/summer 2012 vastly employed snakeskin in the design of their accessories, but added variety by using different colors.
