The way a girl decorates her space tells a lot about her personality. This week, I interviewed Emily Guthlein who is a junior at the University of Dayton. Emily decorated her space in a chic way that is heavily influenced by her personal fashion style. Read on to find out more about this Dormista’s space!
CollegeDormista: What was your inspiration for your bedroom décor?
Emily Guthlein: I love shabby chic style with more emphasis on the chic. I love everything from Anthropologie so that was a big part of my inspiration. I took that style and tried to do it on a budget.
CD: Explain how you achieved this chic look on a budget.
EG: I looked for a lot of sales. I got great deals on some beautiful things. I also decorated some things myself, like adding ribbon to lampshades to make a pretty bow.
CD: What do you love most about your room?
EG: I really love the symmetry of the bay windows. I wanted to keep things symmetrical so I placed a lamp on each side of my desk. I love how it turned out!
CD: How has your fashion style influenced your décor?
EG: I love timeless, classic fashions. I tend to accessorize with pretty sparkly things, which is what I did in my room. I also displayed my shoes underneath my bed. They are like art!
CF: If you had to pick one item in your room that was your favorite, what would it be?
EG: I would have to say it would be my comforter. I love the ruffles and I thought the dusty peach color was very unique. I think it makes a statement in my room and is anything but average.
