How To Become A Morning Person (Even In College)

Maybe it’s just me, but I have always been a morning person. I think it is because I really enjoy the early hours of the day. Feeling the less humid air (thanks, Florida) and the quietness before everyone else starts their day brings me a sense of calm. Mornings are usually my “me time” and when I feel most energized. I like to take full advantage of doing whatever I want with the little extra time I have. Taking my time in the morning lets me start my day out at ease, not in a rush and, best of all, stress-free.

I know the concept of being a “morning person” is alarming to many of you—especially as college students. But waking up before noon isn’t just a necessity (hello 8 a.m. lectures), but also prepares you for “adulting.”

So rise and shine (literally) with my tips on what you can do to be a better morning person:

1—Get up. If your biggest issue is just getting out of bed in the morning, then try setting your alarm clock on the other side of the room. That way when it does go off in the morning, you have to choice but to literally get up to go turn it off. Once you get moving it is a little easier to keep moving. (Photo via @chastity_diane)

2—Play music. Create a morning playlist that makes you want to get up and move around. Listening to a playlist while getting ready can also be a good way to pay attention to the time and how long it’s taking you to get ready. (Photo via @jazzminlauren)

3—Pamper yourself. Take some time and do a little something extra for yourself in the morning. Whether it be a face mask, teeth whitening, doing your nails, taking a hot shower, etc. Do whatever makes you feel a little better about yourself. (Photo via @hellogabrielle)

4—Clean up. If you’re like me when you get ready, you try on a hundred outfits and then leave all the clothes on the floor. Take the extra time you have and clean that hot mess up! Oh, and don’t forget to make your bed. (Photo via @alexadmendoza)

5—Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Don’t forget to grab something to eat before you head out to start your day. Honestly eating a little something and grabbing my essential ice coffee is really my morning motivation and gets my energy going. (Photo via @itstrendychelsea)
