For basics, American Apparel and Forever 21 are always great. Even though American Apparel is a little bit pricier, I appreciate their products because they are usually durable and since most items are basic and solid colored, I can wear them so many different ways with different accessories. If they have a sale, Urban Outfitters is good too. Steve Madden is my favorite shoe designer. However, I really enjoy shopping at boutiques. They usually have really unique items that you don’t come across everyday. I love shopping at stores in Little Five Points here in Atlanta and in Georgetown back home in DC. But my absolute favorite place to find clothes is at any thrift store; unique items at low prices is the best of both worlds.
CF: What’s your favorite piece in your closet?
EL: My favorite piece that I own is my denim vest. It’s a nicely fitted, solid medium wash denim cut that I bought at Forever 21 several years ago and still wear. It’s my favorite accessory because I can layer it with so many different shirts and dresses. I love the boyish touch it adds to my delicate girly blouses paired with leggings.
How To: To imitate this look you can pair a lighter color gray jean with another abstract print blouse with darker colors. The contrast between dark and lighter colors is reminiscent of the crispness of black and white together, which is very classic and sophisticated look. Try pairing these items with a tall combat black lace-up boot similar to this Fashionista. Put on your “I can do anything I set my mind to” smile and the look is complete!
