FASHIONISTO SPOTLIGHT: Arron Smith

Fashionisto Spotlight

There are certain prints and trends that I’ve always thought were reserved for certain seasons and only those seasons. The buffalo check is one of them. I see this print a lot on shirts and jackets in the cold winter months but rarely see them in the summer, let alone during a long and seemingly never-ending heat wave. I spotted this week’s Fashionisto shopping with his friend in H&M rocking a colorful twist on the buffalo check. The pairing of this Fashionisto’s H&M shirt with simple black flip-flops and pants from Urban Outfitters makes this the perfect transition outfit from summer to fall and proves that this traditional cold weather print really can work for any season.

Name: Arron Smith

Major: Psychology

Year: Sophomore (Virginia Commonwealth University)

CollegeFashionista: Describe your personal style in three words.

Arron Smith: Casual, comfortable, cute.

CF: What is your favorite season to dress for and why?

AS: Probably winter because you could wear more and look cuter.

CF: If you could raid anyone’s closet, who would it be?

AS: Ryan Gosling because Ryan Gosling’s hot.

CF: What is one item in your closet you cannot live without?

AS: Probably my belt. I wear it every day.

How To: If you’re going to work a buffalo check shirt in the summer, be sure to pay attention to color. This shirt from H&M is perfect to start with because of the bold colors that contrast with the traditionally fall/winter pattern. A pair of skinny black pants and black flip-flops are a great way to keep the overall look simple and casual, but any neutral will make this a look for all seasons. If you’re someone who doesn’t like to show your feet, a pair of old-school kicks in black, white or a fun color will work just as well.
