FASHIONISTO SPOTLIGHT: Jose Rigalado

Fashionisto Spotlight

This Fashionista caught my eye with his colorful kicks, but his stellar style kept me more than engaged. From his camo pants, to his jean jacket and back down to his brilliant Nike sneakers, this Fashionisto stood out in front of the beautiful fall foliage on campus and showed off a unique look that was straight off the streets of D.C.

Name: Jose Rigalado

Major: Global Affairs

Year: Junior

CollegeFashionista: Your look is killer! Could you describe your style for me?
Jose Rigalado: It’s probably more streetwear. I’ve been collecting sneakers for a couple years now. So it started out as a hobby and as I got more into collecting I figured I should wear clothes that go with the sneakers.

CF: What would be your style advice to other Fashionistos like yourself?
JR: Be yourself. It’s ok to use someone else’s style but incorporate yourself into it. Mix and match colors, be creative!

CF: Where do you like to shop?
JR: Well, I wear a lot of major brands like Nike, Stusi, Commonwealth but I also wear clothes from smaller stores in D.C.

CF: Any fall shoe trends you’re looking forward to?
JR: Well right now a hot commodity is the Easy two. They’re going to be releasing a third color. So I’ll be willing to pay a good amount of money if necessary to get them.

CF: Describe what you’re wearing today.
JR: I’m wearing a Levi Brand Jeans jacket, a Stusi button-down shirt, a pair of camo print pants and Stusi runs, which are one of the cheapest sneakers that Nike has put out in a couple of years. They’re simple but they really stand out and people notice them a lot.

How To: To get a killer street style look like this Fashionisto you will need an outstanding pair of shoes. A lot of high end sneakers can be expensive so if you’re willing to invest these pair of floral adidas will do the trick. However you can also find a great pair of sneakers on a college budget through your local thrift stores or with brands like Converse and Vans. This Fashionisto uses contrasting colors and patterns such as camo, houndstooth, floral or pleather to help add an edge which defines his street style look. Get a fun printed pair of pants or T-shirt and pair it with a neutral color. This will help to create an edgy street look ready to wear around campus.
