College gives us so many great opportunities including internships, Greek life and most importantly, the ability to meet people you would never expect. On a brisk fall day I ran into a Fashionista who sported a cozy chic look which included a military style navy jacket and acid-washed jeans. As it turned out this Fashionista was fascinated with dressing for cold weather as a foreign exchange student from the warm and sunny Thailand.
Name: Puthamid Lungchani
Year: Exchange Student from Thailand
Major: Mathematics
CollegeFashionista: How do you determine what's your fashion?
Puthamid Lungchany: I don’t really follow anyone. Usually what I do is look for clothes that fit to my body.
CF: Where are some of your favorite places to shop?
PL: In Thailand there is a swapmeet called Nai Market. It’s a street with carts filled with clothing on both sides of the road. Because Thailand has a lower cost of living than in America I shop at thrift stores to try and find brands for cheaper.
CF: How does your fashion change when attending school in a different country?
PL: In America I have to dress for winter. We don’t have cold weather in Thailand, unless you live in the mountains. I love being able to wear boots because I don’t get to wear them in Thailand.
CF: Can you describe what you’re wearing today?
PL: I’m wearing a red vest over a plain T-shirt and a navy military jacket. I also have on a pair of acid-washed jeans and a pair of beige ankle boots to keep my feet warm.
How To: To recreate this outfit do not be afraid to branch out of your normal color scheme and pair a few atypical colors together. Try a pair of acid-washed jeans, a versatile green military jacket from this season's fall trends, a bright colored vest and your favorite pair of ankle boots like these from MANGO.
