The air is cooler but not quite crisp, the days are slightly shorter and the smell of Pumpkin Spice Lattes is becoming stronger daily. However, it’s still not quite cool enough to break out that cable knit sweater you’ve been holding hostage in your closet. It is that awkward time of year when there is a mix of ranging outfits combining colors and styles that display the ending and beginning of a season. I spotted this Fashionista coming out of a study session in the library in a very study-chic outfit. It showed her preparedness for fall fashion from her pastel long sleeve shirt to her studded sandals.
Name: Haley Ashcom
Major: Global Affairs
Year: Junior
CollegeFashionista: What makes your style unique?
Haley Ashcom: I like to wear very plain things and dress them up. I’m wearing pretty simple colors: pale pink and black. But I dress it up because of the bow and the studs. I really don’t like anything too flashy, I like to make it simple and classy.
CF: What does fashion mean to you?
HA: Fashion represents what I look day to day so it represents my mood and how I’m feeling that day. If I’m in a good mood I tend to look better and more fashionable and when I’m in a bad mood I tend to look like a bum.
CF: What are some fashion related things you couldn’t live without?
HA: My leggings, my fall riding boots and any kind of cardigan that I own.
CF: Are there any fall trends your looking forward to?
HA: I love riding boots; I could wear them all year long. So I can’t wait to wear those again.
CF: Do you have any advice for CollegeFashionistas trying to find their own style?
HA: Dress to who you are. Don’t dress to be other people. There are so many diverse people on a college campus, you're bound to wear something that fits in with another person on campus.
CF: Can you describe what you were wearing today?
HA: I’m wearing leggings with studded black sandals and a pale pink blouse with a bow.
How To: In order to recreate this look, it’s important to pick elements of fall and elements of summer that you particularly like. A legging paired with a brightly colored top, as displayed by this Fashionista, is a good way to show the approaching season. Because the weather isn’t too cold yet take advantage of wearing your favorite sandals and wedges.
