Being a blogger can often be a full-time job; so is running the social media for a major brand. So when Grace Atwood, who heads up social media at BaubleBar, started her blog, Stripes & Sequins, she essentially became an online Wonder Woman. Her blog touches every corner of a Fashionista’s life—from fashion to travel to beauty to food. Our favorite articles are her weekly runway-inspired DIY projects. We caught with Grace as she discussed becoming a blogger, juggling her other full-time job and her college style.
CollegeFashionista: How did you get your start as a fashion blogger?
Grace Atwood: I just randomly started a blog one day. I wanted a creative outlet and a place to share the things that inspired me.
CF: For people who may be unfamiliar with your blog, what kind of content can they expect to see?
GA: Stripes & Sequins is a mix of lifestyle and fashion content. You’ll find outfit posts and shopping round-ups, as well as DIY projects, travel posts and a little bit of home content, too.
CF: You also work for BaubleBar. Is it ever difficult for you to balance time between your blog and your career?
GA: Oh yes, balancing both can be tough. I don’t sleep enough.
CF: Did you experiment with fashion while you were in college?
GA: I did… though I wore a LOT of Abercrombie & Fitch when I was in college (I’m old… I graduated in 2003).
CF: Tell us something people may not know about you already.
GA: I am obsessed with cats but I also really love dogs. I am just an animal person. I’d probably have 10 pets if I didn’t live in New York.
CF: What is your go-to look of the moment?
GA: A little black dress (often in leather) tights, boots and a statement necklace.
CF: Where do you see your blog in five years?
GA: It’s so hard to say, as the Internet is constantly evolving. But I hope blogs are still around in five years, and I hope Stripes & Sequins still has some sort of online presence.
CF: If you could describe Grace Atwood in three words, what would they be?
GA: Happy, silly and hard-working.
