STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Tis the Season

Uncategorized

The sidewalks are covered with an array of colors and students are stacking on the layers. Despite this ebb and flow of sunny days and less than frigid nights we have to accept that the seasons are changing. Within a few days long sleeves, beanie hats and scarves will be a necessity. If you haven’t already start pulling out the clothes you stocked away for summer and grab your favorite cardigan. It’s time to accept that 60-degree weather will no longer be the norm.
This young Fashionisto stood out for his bold red button-down cardigan and laid back demeanor. With headphones on and black-rimmed glasses I meekly introduced myself hoping he would oblige my request. In a matter of minutes I got my shot and left with a tinge of jealousy- I wanted it. I love the feeling of an over-sized button down and almost knee-grazing cardigan, and the warmth of a sweater to cocoon myself in. My motto is the “go for colors and crazy patterns”. There will be a select few naysayers who will scoff and mutter, “ hipster”, under their breath as you walk by. There will be those who will snicker when you reference your adoration and excitement for a quality Cosby sweater. But remember that fashion isn’t about mere acceptance; it’s about fun, inspiration, and being true to yourself. So if that comes in the form of a fabulous/hideous cardigan or sweater, stand tall with your head held high. It doesn’t matter what everyone else thinks.
Start off slow with a sharp fitted heather grey button-down cardigan from Obey.  Ease into a crewneck sweater from N4E1 then plunge into YMC Fairilse Shawl Collar Cardigan from ASOS. To find the ultimate gem stop by your local thrift store or Salvation Army. Good luck hunting.
