This season is all about staying warm and fabulous. If there’s one thing us SHU students know, it’s that the winter can sometimes be unbearable as temperatures continue to drop here in Connecticut. But what us Pioneers also try to achieve is a sense of individuality, even when forced to wear this season’s fluffiest of coats.
While Fashionistas campus wide are wearing feathered down coats, this week’s Fashionista made it a point to stand out against the crowd. This fashionably comfortable student decided to pair her long down coat with a patterned scarf she purchased when studying abroad in Luxemburg this past summer, as well as a simple white top and metallic flats. Her choice of a loose bun also adds to her overall look, as she appears to be effortlessly put together.
This season is all about the coat. Whether for warmth or flair, runway shows around the world are displaying fashionable ways to flaunt oversized outerwear. Take Miu Miu’s spring 2013 collection for example. With a variety of textures and fits, Miu Miu displays an array of fur and silk jackets suitable for any gal seeking a fashionable way to stay warm while relevant. Even long coats made out of denim made a statement, claiming that jean jackets are back and officially here to stay! So be creative this winter as you are forced to work around puffy oversized outerwear. Simple accessories such as a knitted hat or chic scarf can make a world of difference when standing out against the crowd!
