Fashionisto Spotlight

It's official: It's summer time. With finals waning down to an end and the entire Quad packing itself up and out of Philly, Sam Ruddy is just as ready as everyone else to finish off freshman year at Penn and go back home to California. His look today is a combination of these two sentiments — a sort of tribute to the preppy, frat boy look that dominates the well-dressed male stratosphere (he was just initiated into SAE a couple days ago, ladies!), combined with the neutral, laid back look of Southern California. Hope the West Coast has welcomed you back well, and have a lovely summer everyone.

Name: Sam Ruddy

Major: International Relations

Year: Sophomore

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?

Sam Ruddy: I am wearing a J.Crew button up with Levis jeans, a Nixon watch and Bass brand boat shoes.

CF: How would you characterize your style?

SR: I would probably call it West Coast preppy or something like that. I think I'm influenced by being from LA, because Vineyard Vines isn't really my thing either.

CF: What inspires you in the morning when you're dressing for class?

SR: I would say that I usually just go with how I'm feeling that morning. If I'm in a particularly good mood, I find that I wear collard shirts more. But if I'm not, I just throw on a T-shirt and get to class.

How to: Dress down a preppy outfit by keeping the color scheme limited to neutral tans, off-whites and browns. And completed with Sperrys — what else!
