Fashionisto Spotlight

To wrap up the semester, or quarter in my case, this Fashionisto stays cozy in a Christmas green crewneck sweater, light-blue corduroy pants and brown Sperry Top-Sider shoes. This rather casual, but fashionable, outfit is perfect for the holidays and family get-togethers.

Name: Carlo Francesco Moreno

Major: Psychology and Art History

Year: Graduate Student

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?

Carlo Francesco Moreno: Corduroy pants from Urban Outfitters, dark brown leather Sperry Top-Sider shoes and a Tommy Hilfiger dark green sweater.

CF: Where do you usually shop?

CM: Buffalo Exchange, Urban Outfitters and a couple of vintage stores. I randomly go shopping wherever whenever.

CF: Who or what inspires your style?

CM: I’d say one of my friends from high school and one of my friends, Stephanie Castro, got me into music. With music I started wearing cooler, funky and trendy clothes. The first bands I started listening to with her were The Smiths and The Cure—a lot of early ‘90s post new wave music.

CF: What is a staple item of your wardrobe?

CM: I have a couple of really cool jackets. I have a plaid green and blue blazer and I also have another pink and white striped suit jacket. I like to mix it up a lot.

CF: What are you excited to wear this season?

CM: My ugly but cool-looking sweaters. They look nice.

How To: This outfit calls for a crewneck sweater with any T-shirt or long-sleeve underneath. If you want a preppy look, wear a collared button-up shirt and pull out the collars so they show on the neckline of the sweater. For bottoms, corduroy pants are a must-have. If you’d rather not wear light-colored pants such as the one this Fashionisto is wearing, maple brown or grey are great alternatives. Last but not least, keep it classy in any pair of Sperry Top-Sider shoes.
