Layering is one of my most favorite necessities during the fall and winter seasons. It’s not only to keep warm, but also to make a statement. A knitted sweater over a simple chambray top or a solid blazer over a plaid button-up and T-Shirt combo are some examples of layering. It’s also a time to make all your summer and spring pieces useful once again. This is especially good news when you live in an area like I do! Your summer/spring wardrobe never really gets put away during this season. Girls, a summer dress under a chunky pull-over sweater or a fitted long sleeved turtle neck underneath can be another way to keep your summertime favorites in rotation. Guys, layering your blazers, leather jackets, jean jackets and sweaters with your summer tanks and T-Shirts can also open the door to endless outfit options.

XC: I love scarves. I just think they’re nice, warm and comfortable.
CF: Where, or from whom, do you get your fashion inspiration from?
XC: Honestly, I look at the store mannequins! But I also like to see what different celebrities are wearing as well.

How To: One simple way to change this Fashionisto’s outfit is to add his favorite fall item: a scarf. Try a beige scarf to keep it a versatile piece to pair with all sorts of different outfits. Not a fan of plaid? Try a cream or gray sweater to layer with. Instead of a brown leather as your top layer, swap it out for a classic jean jacket for a softer look. While oxfords are a nice shoe to pair up with an assortment of outfits, try an earth toned boot and it will spruce up this outfit just as equally.
