Now that my classes are over at Ryerson, I stepped off campus to find other stylish students in downtown Toronto. I spotted this Humber College public relations Fashionisto, in a casual and preppy outfit, enjoying a sunny day near Yonge-Dundas Square. His look was comfy and simple–from his Varsity jacket to his boat shoes. He gave his look a bit of edginess, thanks to his DIY studded collar.
Name: Terrence Freeman
Major: Public Relations
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?
Terrence Freeman: Preppy with a bit of edge.
CF: What three items should every Fashionisto have in his closet?
TF: Every Fashionisto should have a Varsity jacket, boat shoes and a perfectly fitted, crisp button-down shirt.
CF: Where do you look for fashion inspiration?
TF: I like to gain fashion inspiration from what I see on the streets of Toronto, as well as, on online forums, such as fashion blogs and Instagram.
CF: Whose closet would you love to raid and why?
TF: I would love to raid Brad Goreski’s closet. I can see myself wearing a lot of the things he wears. Also, as a celebrity stylist, he probably has a ton of designer options.
CF: What are your favourite menswear trends this season?
TF: Monochromatic looks and camouflage.
CF: Has living in Toronto influenced the way you dress for school?
TF: Toronto has definitely influenced the way I dress for school. Being in Toronto, I am often surrounded by other fashionable people who inspire me and make me want to step up my game.
How To: You can start off this outfit with a DIY project: add studs to a purple Oxford shirt. Find a plain collared shirt and buy studs from a craft store or online and get creative! Next, add a pair of jeans and a Varsity jacket. Finish off this look with a pair of navy blue boat shoes, a classic watch and a pair of shades.
