FASHIONISTO SPOTLIGHT: Robbie Nunes

Fashionisto Spotlight

Wearing lettered shirts and apparel around campus is a rite of passage for all of those who have joined Greek life across America. The Greek population at The College of New Jersey is no exception; you can find students at The College dressed in letters everywhere you look, especially in the warmer months. That’s why it was no surprise when I spotted this week’s Fashionisto, none other than the president of TCNJ’s Inter-Greek Council, sporting his organization’s Greek letters in style.

Name: Robbie Nunes

Major: Finance

Year: Junior

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?

Robbie Nunes: A gray lettered T-shirt with maroon letters for my fraternity. I’m also wearing maroon Ralph Lauren corduroy pants, Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses, dark brown leather Sperry Top-Siders and a custom khaki baseball cap with the name of my fraternity embroidered on it.

CF: How would you describe your style?

RN: I would describe my style as professional and clean-cut.

CF: Where are some of your favorite places to shop?

RN: I really like Brooks Brothers and Ralph Lauren. I also like to shop at sporting goods stores for athletic brands, like Nike, to wear on more relaxed days.

CF: What type of outfit do you typically wear to class?

RN: I try to look nice when I go to class. I usually wear something like a button-up shirt or a polo.

CF: How do you normally style your Greek letter T-shirts?

RN: I try to wear my letters two to three times a week. I wear khakis or corduroy pants with them often. I also usually wear Sperry Top-Siders or Timberland boots with them.

How To: Just because Greek apparel typically consists of cotton T-shirts doesn’t mean that they have to look boring or casual. Try coordinating the colors in your letters with your pants, as this Fashionisto did. In the warmer months you can easily make a statement by pairing your letters with some colorful shorts. And of course no “fratty” outfit is complete without Sperry Top-Siders or a baseball cap!
