Most of us see the weekend as 48 or so hours to lounge around in sweatpants or pajamas without a care for making a sartorial statement. However, not everyone uses the weekend to hibernate in their favorite sweats while recovering from nights they either cannot remember, or would rather soon forget. I spotted this Fashionisto outside his apartment on East Campus looking cool and casual in a basketball sweatshirt, light-wash jeans and a pair of old school Chucks. His wooden necklace and bracelet add a unique touch to step up his weekend uniform.
Name: Rob Holmes
Major: Business Management, minor in communication studies
CollegeFashionista: Describe your personal style in three words.
Rob Holmes: Old school, classy and original.
CF: Who or what influences your personal style?
RH: I look at style as an expression of your personality and as an extension of who you are. I always try to adapt my outfits to whatever environment I go into.
CF: Whose closet would you raid and why?
RH: I would pick Andre 3000 because he’s very fashionable and he has all these outfits for different occasions. I love him and Jay-Z because they can work those three-piece suits but they’re also great at looking more relaxed.
CF: What is one item in your closet you cannot live without and why?
RH: I probably would go with my necklaces because they really complement my outfit and it feels weird not wearing them sometimes. I got my beads at Good Wood NY, where everything is made of wood.
How To: March Madness may be over, but a basketball sweatshirt works for any month of the year. Pair this with relaxed fit light-wash jeans and Converse kicks to achieve that balance of comfort and style. To finish the look, broaden your accessory horizons with wooden beads for an unexpected twist to your ensemble.
