Red is a dominant color. Women swipe on a layer of red lipstick to give them the confidence they need to feel sexy yet assertive, but what does red do for men? Well, according to color psychology, red exudes a strong and powerful masculine energy. Whether this week’s Fashionisto wore red jeans to feel sexy, assertive or masculine, he certainly looks suave, proving that the power of these red pants is undeniable.
Name: Nick Lauricella
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing?
Nick Lauricella: I’m wearing a blazer from Zara, a John Varvatos T-shirt, red jeans from H&M, Vans and accessories from David Yurman, Scott Kay and Armani Exchange.
CF: As a Style Guru, I need to be well versed on women’s and men’s summer fashion. So fill me in on what’s hot for Fashionistos this summer.
NL: Colored demin, graphic tees and the occasional blazer, with the sleeves rolled up, are key for men’s fashion this summer.
CF: Some guys think accessorizing is only for girls, but what accessories do you think guys could incorporate into their look?
NL: I have heard this many times. The truth is accessorizing adds style to every outfit. It’s an essential part of my wardrobe. A guy can never go wrong with a necklace and a beaded or leather bracelet.
CF: When you swap blue jeans for red, what do you usually pair with them?
NL: I love my red jeans. They are great for the summer, especially since they are bright. I love matching them with a plain white V-neck or a black graphic tee depending on the day.
How To: Guys, first off, don’t stress! It’s just as easy to find red jeans as it is to find blue jeans. Personally I love these Levi’s, but shop around and find a pair that are perfect for you. Next, find a graphic tee in either gray, black or white. Depending on your style, you may want to pair this outfit with a leather jacket or a black blazer. Now most importantly, the shoes. A pair of Vans like these are super cool and a great finishing touch to a red hot outfit.
