Let’s face it, denim is one of fashion’s best friends. Our city’s best friend, the fog, also loves a good jean jacket. Who doesn’t love a jean jacket? I mean, both Fashionistas and Fashionistos can rock them, you can buy them just about anywhere and they go with just about anything. This Fashionisto pairs it with a simple yet comfortable outfit for class and adds a pop of unique cool with his beanie and glasses. Take note from this Fashionisto, guys.
Name: Matt Miller
Major: Media Studies
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today, and where are these pieces from?
Matt Miller: Today, I’m wearing a loose beanie, a denim jacket, a black V-neck T-shirt, dark green jeans and black lace-up skate shoes. The beanie and shirt are from H&M, the denim jacket is from Forever 21, the green jeans are from UNIQLO and the shoes are Vans.
CF: Where do you typically shop?
MM: I typically shop at H&M, UNIQLO and in the men’s section of Forever 21. On occasion, I’ll see what they have in Gap.
CF: What is your favorite piece in your closet right now?
MM: My denim jacket. It goes with most of the clothes in my closet and is a lighter option to staying warm than something heavy like a peacoat.
CF: What is something you are really excited to wear this spring?
MM: This spring I’m excited to pick up some more simple snapbacks. Snapbacks are already on the rise I feel, and I think they’ll be popular this spring season.
CF: Where do you get your style inspiration from?
MM: A lot of my style influences come from being in San Francisco and seeing what other people are wearing. When I’m on the bus and I like what someone is wearing, I make a mental note to try to recreate that look later. I like to think my style is like bits and pieces of the city I live in.
CF: What is one piece of advice you would give to other Fashionistos?
MM: Don’t be afraid to try something new. If you see something you like but it isn’t something you think you could pull off because you haven’t tried it on before, just give it a shot.
CF: Finally, how would you describe your style?
MM: I would describe my style as simple meets urban.
What’s great about this outfit is how versatile all the pieces are. Start with a basic pair of pants: khakis, colored jeans that will be a different shade than the jean jacket you wear or even a cool pair of corduroys. This Fashionisto rocked a simple black V-neck, but you can play around with it and show your personality with a graphic T-shirt
. Add a jean jacket
and if it’s really cold or you want that layering look, throw on a sweatshirt
underneath. Pick a pair of sneakers or boots
, and don’t forget to add accessories like a watch, a beanie or snapback
. Mix and match basics for great outfits all spring long!
