FASHIONISTO SPOTLIGHT: Malcolm McNeil

Fashionisto Spotlight

If you have been keeping up with my posts you know how much I love neutral outfits. Black, gray and white are a must in any Fashionista/o’s wardrobe, simply because clothing in these colors go with everything, work for every occasion and is perfect for any kind of weather. Don’t be afraid to mix and match different types of pieces together. For example, white button-downs are uniform pieces for more formal occasions, but adding a dope pair of sneakers to the mix makes the outfit that more cool, comfortable and casual.

Name: Malcolm McNeil

Major: Criminal Justice

Year: Junior

CollegeFashionista: What is your favorite season to dress for and why?

Malcolm McNeil: My favorite season to dress for is spring; spring because there is less concern about dressing solely to be warm, the colors become more vibrant and more variety is possible with the weather. Spring is when you can really mix things up and still be cozy.

CF: Men’s style has so many accessory options (hats, glasses, watches, socks, jewelry, etc.) What are your favorite accessories and why?

MM: Hats are definitely my favorite accessory because they can always complete a look by adding a simple accent or take the edge off for a more casual feel. There is a hat for everyone and every outfit.

CF: SHOES! What is your favorite style of shoe and why?

MM: My favorite style of shoe are sneakers. Basketball, running, and skateboarding sneakers are the usual go-tos because they typically have the more fashionable fit. I’ve always been a large fan of sneakers because of the comfort they provide and because they are a simple way to create the ‘cozy look.’

CF: If you could take anyone’s wardrobe, whose would it be and why?

MM: If I could take anyone’s wardrobe it would be Kid Cudi’s. His casual blend of tees, leather and other timeless basics, in addition to his skinny fit, make for classic yet effortless style. Furthermore proving the complexity of simplicity.

How To: This Fashionisto has a quite neutral and casual outfit, but do not underestimate it for a second. That dope varsity jacket from Nike has leather sleeves and premium insulation so it is perfectly warm for these chilly D.C. days. The long sleeved, white button-down was designed by Christian Dior. And you can snag the black fitted jeans from A.P.C. To top it all off, check out the Nike Air Jordan Retro High OG “Shadow” sneakers, that bring together all the colors in the outfit. Well done Mr. McNeil, well done!
